The organisers of the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament (IMART) are delighted to announce that renown Penguin Rugby and its Charitable Trust (Penguin International Rugby Football Trust) are coming back at IMART 2025 in Pamplona, supporting coach development activities in what will be the biggest and boldest Mixed Ability tournament in our ten-year history.

From 22–27 June, in fact, Pamplona will host more than 1,400 players of all abilities from over 24 countries, gathering to compete in over 70 rugby matches as part of the 4th IMART. The event will take place at Universidad Pública de Navarra and represents the heart of MAGIC 2025 – a week-long celebration of Mixed Ability sport that also includes international competitions in football, basketball, boxing, rowing, curling, golf, handball, goalball, and more.

After the experience of IMART Cork 2022, the Penguin Rugby Charity has agreed once again to support the delivery of a bespoke coaching workshop led by England Rugby Level 5 coach Steve Hill.

Steve has extensive experience of rugby, having previously coached at Harlequins and been Head Coach/Director of Rugby of Oxford University RFC, England Students, Richmond FC and currently Wimbledon RFC.

Steve has presented a large number of coach education sessions on behalf of the Penguin Coaching Academy over the last 15 years, and will make his knowledge available to those Mixed Ability rugby coaches travelling to IMART and other club coaches across Navarra and beyond.

The session is going to take place on Thursday 26th of June at 4.30pm at the UPNA Sports facilities in Pamplona. The workshop will be very practical in nature, covering a range of areas of the game, aiming to improve the content and standard of coaching of all attendees. It will be a fun, interactive session all about creating a positive, player-focused environment where all players can improve and thrive -making it a perfect occasion for anyone looking to enhance their rugby coaching skills.

In addition to that, the Penguin Rugby Charity have kindly agreed to sponsor the refereeing kit for IMART 2025, making sure their presence is visible on the pitch.

Martino Corazza, IMAS Director said “It’s a great pleasure to work again with Penguin Rugby, such an iconic and respected organisation in the Rugby World. We share the same commitment to using coaching and education to provide opportunities to those who need it most, improving skills, upholding values and growing the game we love across the globe. The session with Steve will leave local coaches with an enormous amount of knowledge that can be transferred back into their teams, making sure everyone in the game can thrive!”.

Penguin Rugby CEO Craig Brown commented that supporting IMART was an easy choice for the Penguin Rugby Charity Trustees, as it aligned with the Penguins objectives to foster – by coaching and playing – the development, goodwill and camaraderie of rugby union worldwide. “By being able to support the tournament with specialist coach education, tournament support and supporting the referees is a way to continue to support the development of rugby at the grassroots level and for teams where rugby is not considered a major sport”.

IMART 2025 is hosted by IMAS, IMAS Spain and Iruña Rugby Club, with additional support from Flutter Entertainment as global strategic partner and headline sponsor. The event is co-funded by the European Commission through Erasmus+ Sport and has received the official patronage of UNESCO. We’re also honoured to be backed by the Gobierno de Navarra, Ayuntamiento de Pamplona and many others who believe in a more inclusive sporting future.

IMAS and IMART are grateful to Penguin Rugby and the Penguin International Rugby Football Trust for their continued support and look forward to partnering to deliver another great Mixed Ability rugby event!
