Between June 22 and 27, 2025, Pamplona will be the capital of MAGIC 2025 (Mixed Ability Games, Inclusion, and Coproduction), a unique sporting event featuring disciplines such as rugby, basketball, football, and many more.

As part of this incredible tournament, the 2nd International Mixed Ability Rowing Regatta will take place in Orio, Guipúzcoa, bringing together more than 60 athletes from Italy, Ireland, England, Scotland and Spain.

Did you know that Mixed Ability rowing began in England, and has since gained international popularity? Bradford Amateur Rowing Club (BARC) was the first to adopt Mixed Ability rowing as a part of its offer and they will be travelling to Pamplona!

Since then, Mixed Ability rowing has grown organically following the success of BARC. In 2019, IMAS provided training to the Yorkshire Rowing Committee and recruited its first ambassador, British rower and former Olympian Anna Marie Phelps. The first International Mixed Ability Rowing Regatta was held as part of Mixed Ability Week in Cork in 2022 and has since been repeated twice in Turin. In October 2023, 45 Mixed Ability rowers from Italy, England, and Ireland attended. More than 60 athletes are expected to participate in this 2nd International Mixed Ability Rowing Regatta.

Now, the Orio Olympic Rowing Club is leading this exciting initiative in Spain!

Andoni Campos, a local club representative, told us: “Orio Arraunketa Elkartea is proud to be able to play our part, in collaboration with the Orio City Council, in organising the 2nd International Mixed Ability Regatta. Furthermore, by making our boats available, we support and provide opportunities for rowers who don’t have many opportunities to compete. We hope that these games as a whole will serve as an example for the entire community to follow.”

Likewise, Enrico Colzani, President of IMAS Italy and member of Societa Canottieri Armida, shared his view on this new edition:
“Having an international perspective like the one I have, as President of IMAS Italy, inspires a great deal of respect for the delegations who are so committed and a sense of pride in being able to help them realise this great opportunity.”

Don’t miss the exciting 1500-meter races and 500-meter sprints, organised by the Orio Olympic Rowing Club together with IMAS and IMAS Spain, with the support of the Orio City Council and the Gipuzkoa Rowing Federation. Come and be part of an inclusive and exciting celebration that unites athletes from around the world.
